We get it. You have a lot on your plate. Running a company is hard work and you have plenty to do and no time to do it in. It can get a little overwhelming and stressful at times, but there are ways to manage all the stress that comes with the businness license. Here are our recommendations that seem to work for us when things get a little too crazy.

stress relief for business owners

  • Find out what is causing your stress. Are you running out of time? Not confident in the finished product? Too much to do? Identify what is stressing you and then you will better be able to combat it.

  • Motivate yourself. Many times, your stress is caused by a manageable amount of work, just being pushed on you in a short period of time. Start with one thing and keep going to work through the stack.

  • Count to 10, go for a walk, take deep breaths. Calm yourself before getting back into the situation. Take a step back and evaluate. Just stop for a few minutes and collect yourself so that you can handle the stress when you return.

  • Do something enjoyable to take a load off. Read a book, take up a hobby, have some coffee, go out to eat with friends. Take a break from your busy life and relax, even for a little while. All of that work will still be there when you come back but you’ll be in a better state to deal with it.

  • It’s ok to say “no.” You might be overloaded with work because you kept saying “yes” to the last threepeople that asked for your services. It’s fine to want to help them but you can’t help them if you simply don’t have the time.

  • Stay organized. With so many things on your plate, you need to keep them in order and get them done in a timely manner. Have a calender, a filing system, a storage mechanism, a dropbox, a Drive, a routine, anything that you are comfortable with using to keep organization in your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.

  • Take each task one at a time. Keep the big picture in mind but focus on one thing at a time to avoid extra stress and anxiety.

When you find yourself overwhelmed and stressed because of your business, think about what you plan to accomplish. Keep a clear goal in mind. And it’s ok if you change that goal along the way. Focus on what you need to do and as long as you stay organized and keep a positive attitude, your stress will go down and your success will go up.
